Welcome! Just a quick update tonight: 2 new sets available on Ebay. Hope you'll take a look!

Sweet dreams,

Whew! I had a blast this weekend, camping with friends at the Bogue Chitto river in Missisissippi, got home yesterday but I am still one worn-out chick! Between the bike ride there and back, all the paddling to get down the river on Saturday, and the intense heat and sun, not to mention barely getting any sleep while I was there, I feel like I got hit by a bus. Was it worth it? Of course! Still, I'm very glad to be home in my own bed, basking in the attention of the wonder pups and slipping back into my normal routine.

That's all the news for now...I'm headed to bed, just wanted to give a heads-up on the new beads. Hope you had a great weekend, too, and I'll see you again soon!

Cheers,

K.

Sunday, 6/7/09, 9:55 PM

Winding down from a not-so-lazy Sunday. Cleaned a bunch of beads, took a bunch of photos, expended a bunch of energy helping a friend steam-clean the rugs in her new apartment...and just listed a whopping big (you guessed it!) bunch of Terra beads. Now I'm going to eat a bunch of Doritos, and go get a bunch of sleep.

Thanks a bunch for checking in!

Love ya bunches,

Kim

P.S. Really, I can't help this kind of thing. Too little sleep, too much life.

Saturday, 6/6/09, 2:06 PM

Hi there! Just a quick update before I leave for the afternoon...2 new auctions available, dramatic crystal-drenched sets in shimmery pearl blue and jet black. "Night Surf," a yummy set of sparkling cubes, is already in progress and will end tomorrow. "Electric," the newest of the 2 sets, will start tonight at 8 PM Pacific time and run for 3 days.

Taking off for a nice long ride...I can't wait to feel that wind! Have a fun weekend, and I'll see you again soon.

A hectic Monday that I wasn't prepared for. Did get the new beads up, though. Hope you like!

Wednesday, 5/27/09, 10:44 PM

Long holiday weekends are great, but getting back to some sort of routine afterwards is always a struggle...already Wednesday, but I still don't feel like doing anything except sleeping!

New auction up, some discs and focals in peacock hues with metallic trim, from the Bella Luna series.

Going to sit out on my patio and listen to the frogs & crickets for a while...such a pretty summer night tonight, I hope you're enjoying it, too. Thanks for checking in!

Thursday, 5/21/09, 9:28 PM

Welcome! Just listed the last sets I'll have available this week; there's a crisp, modern-looking strand of diamond-shaped pillows and disks in antique gold, and 2 more small sets of the "Abalone" series florals.

Enjoy the long weekend, and I'll see you next week!

Sunday, 5/17/09, 9:00 PM

Whew, what a long day — I was looking forward to watching the season finale of Lost when I got finished here, but I'm not sure I'll make it through a 2-hour anything at this point, except maybe a nap. Oh well...I guess there's always tomorrow night.

New set from the "Abalone" series just listed, a strand of yummy, heavily-encased crystals with the familiar opal/mother-of-pearl cores. I sure am enjoying the torch work on these Aurae beads, but boy, they're camera-shy...getting a good picture of them is really a production, and I'm about ready to move on from this series just so I can make something that's a little easier to photograph!

Anyway, that's all the news for now. Have a good one, and thanks for stopping by!

Monday, 5/4/09, 9:38 PM

Hello, all you beautiful beadheads! Just listed on Ebay: the third offering from the new "Abalone" series, a double strand of delicate handshaped rounds that pack some serious mother-of-pearl shimmer. Hope you like!

Off to catch up on some paperwork, and the last two episodes of Lost...thank God for DVR!

See you soon,

K.

Thursday, 4/30/09, 10:17 PM

Welcome! Just getting back to routine after a flurry of custom orders and then a last-minute weekend road trip to Indiana that kept me off of Ebay for a few weeks. It's good to be back home, all caught up with the orders, and following whatever whim strikes me at the torch. Not to mention that the gardenia outside my studio door is putting on quite a show this week; it's absolutely loaded with blossoms, so all day long while I'm working, I'm breathing in that heavenly, sweet scent. Ahhhhhh, spring!

More beads soon. Hope life is feeling good for you, too!

Thursday, 4/9/09, 10:15 PM

Hey there! New beads are up, a way-cool set of gold-pink metallic leaves, lentils and pods that would make a great necklace or fringe bracelet.

And, with thanks to Robert Palmer, here's a little ditty especially for you guys. (Sing to the tune of "Addicted to Love.")

~~~~~~
Your lights are on, but you're not home
Your mind is not your own
Your heart sweats, your body shakes
Another bead is what it takes
You can't sleep, you can't eat
There's no doubt, you're in deep
Your throat is tight, you can't breathe
Another bead is all you need
Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh yeah
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough
You know you're gonna have to face it, you're addicted to Bluff
Might as well face it, you're addicted to Bluff
Might as well face it, you're addicted to Bluff
Might as well face it, you're addicted to Bluff
Might as well face it, you're addicted to Bluff
~~~~~

Har har har...late-night boredom can do really strange things to people, huh? I crack myself up sometimes. :)

Seriously, thanks for visiting. Wishing you a lovely Easter weekend, and I'll see you again soon!

Kim

Sunday, 4/5/09, 9:59 PM

Hi there! Just listed the 3rd set from my new "Cirrus" series...these are my favorites so far, because they look so much like gleaming hunks of ice. I'm partial to this faceted crystal shape anyway, but it's the perfect shape to show off the frosty, shimmery nuances of the Aurae glass. Ice, ice, baby!

I'm going to fall into bed with the pupsters and a good book. Thanks for stopping by, and sweet dreams!

Hola, bead fans. The new baubles hath arriveth!

Nothing else going on here, so I'm going to go watch Lost and make myself some spicy sesame noodles. Thanks for stopping by, and have a good one!

Thursday, 3/19/09, 10:09 PM

Hi there! New beads are up...more fun with Double Helix's Aurae, this time over crystal instead of under it, for a totally different look.

Friday's almost here, and we're expecting warm, sunny weather all weekend. Yay! I will definitely be out enjoying it, on 2 wheels. Wishing you a great weekend, too!

Cheers,

Kim

Sunday, 3/15/09, 9:23 PM

Welcome! Some cool new beads listed...these were made with Double Helix's newest glass, Aurae, and wow! This is the first time I've used Aurae, and it is just breathtaking glass. Think opals, moonstones, pearls...it's a creamy, satiny glass with pink, pale gold and lavender highlights. I am definitely ordering more.

Raining and cold here, I didn't get on the bike all weekend but at least it's good flannel-pajamas-and-cocoa weather, which is always enjoyable. Enjoy your Sunday evening!

Thursday, 3/12/09, 10:23 PM

Hi there! Just a quick post-and-run to let you guys know that there are new beads listed...and having taken care of the day's last order of business, I'll now be dragging my weary self to bed. Hooray!

More beads in a day or two, as soon as I can get some photos taken. Thanks a bunch for stopping by, and sweet dreams!

K.

Saturday, 3/7/09, 10:06 AM

What a beautiful day — sunny, and already in the 70's. I had planned to work all day, but it sure is great bike weather...I may have to be a little self-indulgent and take half a day off to go riding!

Just listed a couple of new focals, large lentils from the Bella Luna and Chelsea series. Hope you'll take a look!

Off to the torch for me. Have a wonderful Saturday, and I'll see you again soon!

K.

Thursday, 3/5/09, 9:56 AM

Good morning! Just a quick bead alert: 2 new sets available on Ebay, raku glass drenched with crystal for a great combination of rich color and eye-catching sparkle. Hope you like them!

Have a great day,

K.

Monday, 3/2/09, 8:58 PM

Wecome! New beads are up, for anyone who's interested. A set of sparkling peach/orange hollow beads, and some lentils in smooth, shimmery, stonelike Double Helix blues. (The hollow beads are up for one day only, by the way, so be sure and check them out before they're gone.)

Off to find some dinner. Enjoy your evening, and thanks for stopping by!

K.

Thursday, 2/26/09, 10:28 PM

Greetings, beadheads! A few new sets listed tonight; I finally got caught up on my custom orders, so I should be on Ebay a bit more regularly in the coming weeks. Stay tuned via this page, or on Facebook if you're a member and want to send me a friend request.

Off to bed for me...thanks so much for checking in, and I'll see you again soon!

Monday, 2/9/09, 8:57 AM

(Update, 11:35 PM: Of potential interest to the beadmakers who read this page, I'm de-stashing in my studio and have listed some rare/hard-to-find glass colors that I'm letting go. Original ASK "Passionate Pink," anyone? You can use the link above to check out what I've got available.)

What a great weekend! I worked for most of the weekend, but the weather on Saturday afternoon was clear and in the mid-70's, so I took the bike out for the afternoon and ahhhhhhh...I really, really needed that. Hope that at least some of your weekend was similarly blissful!

New beads just listed...41 classic rounds, plus a few focal chiclets, from my newest series, "Willow." The coloration in this set is really nice, rich and watercolor-y. I just want to eat 'em!

Thanks for stopping by. Wishing you a grand Monday!

K.

Monday, 2/2/09, 11:48 AM

Do you guys have a football-food hangover today, like I did when I woke up? Waaaaay too much jalapeno cheese dip, waaaay too many brownies. Not to mention gumbo and potato salad. I'm glad the officially- sanctioned ditch-your-diet day is over, so I can get back on track.

Bunch of new auctions just listed, all with sale prices. Hope you find something you like. :)

Have a wonderful day, and I'll see you again soon!

K.

Sunday, 2/1/09, 1:36 PM

Hi there!

I'm pretty excited about this new "Mimosa" set...something cheery to chase away the winter doldrums. I had such a great time working on these; something about these colors just soothes my soul. Hope you enjoy them!

Off to a Super Bowl party...couldn't care less about the football, but it will be a good time with friends. Hope your team wins!

K.

Tuesday, 1/27/09, 4:54 PM

Hola! Just listed some smaller, more affordable sets from the "Twilight" and "Willow" series on Ebay; I'll be adding more beads throughout the week as well, so stay tuned. Still some great sets and focals on the bead page, too, so if you haven't seen them, I hope you'll take a look!

Cheers,

K.

Monday, 1/26/09, 12:56 PM................................................................Available Work page is stocked!

Happy New Year, everyone!

I didn't expect to be posting my first update of 2009 so late in the month (and thank you, by the way, to those of you who were starting to send concerned emails...it makes me feel pretty secure to know that people notice my absences that way.) Things here have been great, just very busy. I had a nice holiday break, and then got an unexpected cluster of custom orders right after Christmas, so I've been scrambling to get orders out for the last 3 weeks and didn't get back to working on any new stuff until last week.

Anyway, I'm well-rested and really happy to be starting a bright new year, so I'll be back to routine for at least the next few months, and working on new spring and summer designs.

Hope you and yours are enjoying 2009 so far, and thanks a bunch for checking in. See you soon!

K.

Monday, 12/15/08, 9:39 AM

Good morning! Woke up to see that all of the beads & jewelry I listed yesterday have sold — wow! Thank you guys so much, you are awesome!

Here's one last gasp for the year, a clearance group of 100+ beads, about 40% of which are focals. There are some really nice beads in this lot; I think whoever gets them is going to be very pleasantly surprised when they arrive, 'cause they are NOT done any justice at all by my hastily-taken photo.

Lots of custom orders to finish this week, so I'm off to the torch, where I'll probably be until late this evening. Have a fantastic day, and thanks for stopping by!

K.

Sunday, 12/14/08, 2:31 PM

Hey there — hope you're having a good weekend! I'm really starting to get into the Christmas spirit, planning my Christmas baking and presents and whatnot...I'll never be one of those people who has everything for Christmas organized, planned and nailed down the day after Thanksgiving, but when I do finally get around to feeling festive, I do a pretty good job of it.

Just listed what will probably be my last round of auctions until after the new year, unless I get a surprising burst of energy the week after Christmas (doubtful). There are 11 new auctions and a LOT of pretty things to choose from — short strands of beads that will be great for last-minute gift jewelry, as well as a selection of really nice handcrafted silver jewelry pieces — and everything is on sale, with some pieces priced at up to 50% off what they would normally sell for. I've put "Buy It Now" prices on everything, so you don't have to wait around for auctions to end. Have fun, everyone — and by the way, THANK YOU bunches for all of your support this year. Your enthusiasm for the work really means a lot to me.

Other news: Believe it or not, this is what we woke up to here on Thursday morning:

To say that we were all excited would definitely be an understatement. We hardly ever get to see snow in these parts, so when we do, it's reason to celebrate. People were calling all their friends, running around with their cameras getting proof for posterity, and it seemed as though every other house had a snowman in front of it. Very cool, except for one episode that my friends and family aren't going to let me forget about any time soon.

There was a duck in the lake, about 4 feet from the bank on the other side, that kept swimming in the same place for hours. I had been seeing him there from 6:30 in the morning until around 10 AM, every time I passed by my window, before I realized that he was just swimming in the same spot and that I had never seen a duck do that for so long before. He looked OK, not like he was injured or anything, but there was snow accumulating on his back. Wasn't he cold? I just thought it odd that he wasn't off somewhere with the other ducks. I became convinced that he must have snagged one of his feet in something beneath the water and gotten stuck there. I worried about him for another long while, even soliciting advice about the situation from a few friends on the phone, before I finally broke down and drove to the management office of my apartment complex. My plan was to borrow the pool skimmer to try and rescue the duck, but they wouldn't let me use the skimmer — some nonsense about "possible liability issues." (I refrained from telling the nice management lady that if I wanted to go stand at the edge of the lake and help the duck, I was damned well going to do it, whether it was with the building's skimmer or the one I was about to go buy at the hardware store.)

Anyway, she said she'd get the property manager and one of the maintenance guys to go check out the duck and see if they could help it, so I came back to my apartment and waited. After about an hour, when the duck was still there and I hadn't seen anyone out by the lake trying to help get it unstuck, I called Management Lady again to see what she'd found out.

There was kind of an awkward silence, and then she says, "Ms. Neely, the property manager did go out to see about the duck, and he says...um...well...he says it's a decoy."

"Is he sure?" I asked. She said he was, and I wanted to argue with her for a minute, but instead, I apologized for the inconvenience and hung up. I still wasn't convinced, but not long afterward, the sun came out and the surface of the water calmed, and I could see very clearly that the duck in distress was, indeed, faux. Even as I write this, 3 days later, it's still out there, "swimming" in the same spot.

I am choosing not to be embarrassed about this.

K.

Tuesday, 12/9/08, 10:13 AM.........................................................New Auction

Ruh-roh! New auction has actually been up since Sunday, but I forgot to update the page. There were 10 of these, though, and there are still 4 left, so you still have time to get one if you need a nice bracelet strand of raku beads. (I know I said I wasn't going to make any more of these, but people really seem to love them, so I thought they'd be good for making quick and elegant last-minute jewelry for holiday gifts.)

Dog lovers will find this story on the CNN site interesting. What, they're just figuring this out?

More beads, as well as a few silver jewelry pieces I'm finishing up, later in the week. Stay tuned!

Cheers,

Kim

Thursday, 12/2/08, 10:43 PM

Hello everyone — hope you had a decent Thanksgiving!

Mine was great, both the traditional make-a-real-pig-out-of-yourself part, as well as just having such a nice long weekend to spend time with friends & family. Things have been pretty hectic around here lately, and it was good to slow down for a few days without feeling guilty about it.

I've had a few emails about custom work lately; yes, I'll be taking custom orders between now and Christmas, but I get a lot of requests at this time of year, and have limited time to get everything done and shipped, so if there's something you wanted and you'll need it shipped out in time for Christmas, the sooner you let me know, the better.

Thought for the day: Who says beads aren't a necessity?

Cheers,

K.
